In Memory

Kathy Affolter

Obit from La Crosse Tribune.

Kathryn Louise Affolter, 49, departed our world to meet with God and her parents on April, 29, 2011. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends!
Kathryn “Kathy” was born in La Crosse on Sept. 2, 1961, to Donald W. and F. Leah Affolter (Colvin). She was very close with her family and greatly enjoyed traveling and attending family events. Due to her father’s career, the family relocated several times, and eventually returned to La Crosse. Kathy was a 1979 graduate of Aquinas High School. Her plans of attending Central College in Pella, Iowa, were interrupted by her illness.
She currently worked at Sherry House as well as at the Family and Children’s Center.
She greatly enjoyed her work and was a hard and dependable worker! Last fall Kathy moved to Viola and was extremely happy and comfortable in her new home. She enjoyed the camaraderie and special friendships that she had developed.
Kathy’s zest for life was like no other! She was an avid reader, card player and had an incredible talent to recall trivia and facts. She enjoyed spending time with her brother Tom, shopping, playing the keyboard and researching fashion.
Kathy is survived by her brother, Thomas C. Affolter, as well as an aunt and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents at Viola House for opening your home and hearts to Kathy!
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Burial will follow at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Cathedral Of St. Joseph The Workman.
